For this tattoo the client wanted it to represent the impermanence of life though the beauty of the cherry blossoms. The flowering tree is so magnificent in bloom, but last for only a short time. The kanji means each moment only once, she said that it's a reminder to live in the now. So as the cherry tree blossoms, it will only be in bloom for that short time and we should find as much enjoyment in them for the time here, such is life.
