The acrylic painting "Aset (Winged Form)" is inspired by my research into ancient Egypt. This goddess is most commonly known as Isis, which is actually the name given to her by the Greeks. She was known by many name throughout the long history of ancient Egypt. Aset was one name commonly used by the Egyptians in order to personify and describe the cosmic force responsible for the formation of human civilization. She is considered to be one of the most worshipped dieties in history. It was said that all who sat upon the throne in ancient Egypt, did so by way of her blessing, for she personifies the throne itself.
While I was painting the symbol known as "The Eye of Horus", I felt compelled to follow it with a worthy depiction the mother of Horus, Aset (Isis). I researched into her most ancient history to decide upon her form and as I was painting it, I decided that she should be painted in similar style as "The Eye of Horus". I studied how, something such as this might have been constructed during the time of King Tut, out of an appreciation for the artists who created his sarcophagus and physical adornments.
