Help support this website! email this page to a friend This is a modified custom version of "The Magician" tarot card of the traditional Arthur Edward Waite deck. Dave is not only a stage magician, he's also very much a practitioner of Pagan magick. He performs his illusionary arts in Salem, MA and has contributed to Oberon Zell's books on Wizardry. In this representation, I was inspired by the use of colour by the Pre-Rapahelite painters, rich reds and golds and greens and blues. The Magician is believed to hold the universe in balance and so I tried to convey this through the usage of the sun and moon and the themes of night and day being in a sort of diagonal - like a sort of cosmic "yin-yang". Upon the altar of the magician are his tools and the other suits of the tarot - rod, disk, cup and sword - each representing the elements of nature. Above his head, the inifinity symbol. The lettering below was to look wrought crudely in stone...hence why they're topsy-turvy..... Read into the symbolism what you will....
