Paradise Artist Retreat is right around the corner!
This September 16-19, we are hosting, along with Guy Aitchison and Michelle Wortman, the Paradise Artist Retreat at Jiminy Peak, a scenic ski resort in Western Massachusetts. Based loosely on the Paradise Tattoo Gathering, we're taking our show a step further this year and making the event into an artist's retreat, without the normal trappings of a tattoo convention- specifically the tattooing itself, as well as the contests and all that- we can focus on making art together; learning as much as we can about painting and other fine art mediums. The Jiminy Peak Ski Resort is an ideal environment for this- it's secluded and beautiful, with a number of large spaces where we can not only work side-by-side on the fine art projects of our choice but also have a variety of workshops, seminars and forums.

Days will begin with figure drawing lead by Chris Dingwell & Shawn Barber. The weekend will also be filled with many seminars and workshops. Many of the seminars this weekend will be free to all participants, including the figure drawing sessions and Shawn's portrait painting seminar. Guy Aitchison will be hosting a free workshop on texture. Paid workshops include Shawn's extended portrait painting sessions and Nick Baxter's realism oil techniques. Stay tuned for more seminars as they're added to the roster! Seats at the paid seminars are limited, so you will want to sign up right away at customerservice.hyperspace@gmail.com.

Every evening we will offer forums talking about topics ranging from fine art careers connected to tattooing to suggestions for staying inspired. All the remaining time that week will be for working on whatever project or projects you want, solo or collaborative, any subject, any medium. This weekend is meant for artists of all levels of experience, so if you are just starting to paint, this is an ideal environment to learn and practice around an inspiring, informed group of your peers.

September is coming right up and we are limiting attendance to 200 people, so sign up now! The list of attending artists just keeps growing! The resort, because it is off-season, is priced very reasonably; many of the rooms have kitchens and there is a grocery store on campus, so if you and some friends want to share the space to save money, you can do this on a budget. The resort is also very family-friendly, with carnival rides and things like that, and we intend to have a professional day care person on hand... so this will be set up so you can bring the whole family and stay entertained and engaged the whole time.
