During the Vietnam War American soldiers would leave the Ace of Spades on thier slain enemies. Something like that, Im pretty positive that if you do a search on the Vietnam war and the Ace of spades something would come up. |

The ace of spades is the death card. It was used on the helmets of g.i.'s in Vietnam, their hope was that if the enemy saw it, representing death, they would not be fired at. |

Yes, that is a american version and hype version of meaning of ace of spades. I have read that Vietnamese people didn't even scared of that, it was just a american hype.
Usually, it means just power. It's the highest card in the deck and unbeatable in most games. |

Here, chew on this.....
"The Ace of Spades has been employed, on numerous occasions, in the theatre of war. In the Second World War, the soldiers of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the American 101st Airborne Division were marked with the spades symbol painted on the sides of their helmets. In this capacity, it was used to represent good luck, due to its fortunate connotations in card playing...."
"Some twenty years later, the Ace of Spades was again used by American soldiers — this time as a psychological weapon in the Vietnam War. It was erroreously believed that Vietnamese ancient traditions held the symbolism of the spade to mean death and ill-fortune. The soldiers were quick to pick up this misconception, and in a bid to scare away Viet Cong soldiers without firefight, it was common practice to leave an Ace of Spades on the bodies of killed Vietnamese and even to litter the forested grounds and fields with the card. This custom was believed to be so effective, that the Bicycle Playing Cards company was asked to supply crates of that single card in bulk. The crates were often marked with "Bicycle Secret Weapon".
"The Ace of Spades, while not a symbol of superstitious fear to the VC, did help the morale of American soldiers. It was not unheard of for US soldiers and Marines to stick this card in their helmet band as a sort of anti-peace sign."
"More recently, in 2003 a deck of Most-wanted Iraqi playing cards issued to U.S. soldiers during Operation Iraqi Freedom; each card had the picture of a wanted Iraqi official on it. Saddam Hussein got the nickname "Ace of Spades" as his was the face which adorned that card."
Care for some pop culture?.... ...In Robert Louis Stevenson's story "The Suicide Club" (1878), the Ace of Spades functions as the "sign of death" within a secret society whose members commit "suicide" by submitting to be killed, if they draw the Ace of Spades from a pack of 52 cards during a club meeting, by another member drawing the Ace of Clubs. ....In the film Toy Story 2, Mr. Potato Head and Hamm the Pig play a card game composed of Ace of Spades cards. This comes before Woody had a dream that his child owner, Andy, abandons him for being broken. Woody falls in a vortex full of Aces of Spades, falls through one of the spades, and lands in a trash can under a spade-shaped beam of light. ....The heavy metal band Motörhead's most famous song (and album of the same title) is named after the Ace of Spades. ....The Ace of Spades is featured in the end of George Orwell's Animal Farm when Mr. Pilkington and Napoleon the pig play the card against each other during a card game and start to argue. ....In the episode "Pray Anything" of the T.V show The Simpsons, Arnie Pie(a local reporter) claims that Kent Brockman's(a local news anchor) soul is as black as an Ace of Spades.

each symbol of the deck stands for something in american culture, it was i believe started by the immigrants. Spade was for the millitary, probably cause the ace of spades was considered the highest card in the deck, Club stood for the working class, the civilians who broke there back to get us to where we are today, the heart stood for the church, and the diamond was a symbol of the ruling class the elite bastards who pulled themself to power using the backs of the working class. |

In russia the suits stand for different criminals......Spades is the suit of thieves, hearts is pimps, clubs is killers and diamonds for hustlers......usually an ace of spades would mean a high ranking thief and you would have to answer for having each tatoo that has such meanings, and youd better be what your tattoo says you are...............people been killed for less |

As I said in a similar post. The spade is an extremely important object in the history of Marine Recon. As for it being an icon for any other types of military units, fuck them, they don't deserve our spade. After a Recon Marines first combat deployment, he gets the Recon Combat Jack tattooed either on the inside of his right bicep or across his back. The spade is then used as a kill count/kill tally. The spades can be arranged in different patterns or colors, and a change in color represents a different mission or deployment. A green spade, at a seperate place on the body, represents a lost brother. Enjoy that history, Aaruga. |

America is a sad and violent place generally, and no, not very exciting. People are genereally very kind, but generally very sad due to the way of life there. It reveals itself in ways such as violence, eating, buying excessively, etc..

PS: 13: This can be found on a patch alone or in conjunction with other symbols. There are three definitions to what it means, the most common being associated with drugs and narcotics.
* The letter M, being the 13th letter of the alphabet, often is said to stand for marijuana or motorcycle. Generally, it is assumed someone wearing a 13 patch is either a user of marijuana or other drugs, or is involved with the sale of them rather than 13/M simply standing for Motorcycle. * An episode of the History Channel's Gangland states that the M stands for "methamphetamine" for the Sons of Silence motorcycle club.[1] * The third definition of a 13 patch is that the wearer is his own judge & jury - this is due to 13 standing for 12 jurors and a judge. |
