I like my own machines. I make them myself. I cast them out of lodge cast iron skillets I melt down. I turn my own binding posts out of brass and cut my own springs and wrap my own coils. Simple as that and I paint my own flash. bicknee sells great coil sets. Great if your starting to assemble machines. Leave the machine making to the machinests. Huck spaulding machines are cool! Every one copies its suprem cut back frame. Rollomatics are based off the suprems, I do belive the suprems go back a bit father than huck spaulding, theve only popularized the design. I realy like my salior jerry's bull dog from around the 1960's I found in a street market in japan its really old and its my best one buy far.

Just so that everyone is clear on this thread, this is a very young guy trying to pick a few brains for some advice as to which tattoo machine he should buy for his first machine. The first machine you should buy is an automobile when you're of legal driving age so that you can start exploring apprenticeship opportunities and possibly land one when you're of legal age to be in a tattoo shop according to the juristictions of the area you're looking in. |

you figure and icon such as huck would put out quality machines....not the case.....workhorse puts out the best machines for the dollar amount in my opinion...ive also recently been using a next gen aluminum orion with half coils...not recomended for the slow wristed...my favorite is hands down the aaron cain hook....you can keep the rest |

I have a Internation Cast Iron liner that for some reason seems to run like a dream for me, I've heard other people say they don't care much for international but I would never be able to part with this machine. I also have an International Brass shader with a huge capasitor on it that run so smooth and slow it works awsome for black and grey |

Aaron Cain, Micky Sharpz, Micky Bee, Danny Knight, Time, Robbie Barra, I use em all.
Aaron Cain m/c is superb as is Danny Knight ( I got 2 of these). Micky sharpz is ok for a mass produced item.
The best m/c by far is the one in your head, dont think that a Aaron Cain m/c will make you a better tattooer, you gotta use your head m/c for that!!! |

Something that doesnt require a pedal..im finding no matter what machine I use and I have four, its really whos hands are around it..a machine doesnt make a person..the person makes the machine..but i would love to have one that doesnt have a pedal cause im short and its just a pain after awhile.. |

I have several machines , my favorite is a Todd Hlavaty for shading, My liner , I built on a walker style frame my own coils and springs and armature . As far as im concernd most run about the same when tuned properly and have a good power unit I think most would agree its the artists personal experience and know how. If I had to I could do a good tattoo with a puma. |
