Biography Born in New York City, Robert showed an aptitude for art at a very early age. At the age of 7 he knew, not that he "would be" an artist, but that he "was" an artist. By the age of 14 while staring at a Frank Frazetta original that was hanging in the Society of Illustrators he knew exactly what 'kind' of artist he wanted to be. Robert wanted to be, and became a commercial illustrator. Robert illustrated ads for Playboy, Rolling Stone, IBM, Sony, Disney, Viacom, TV Guide, Westinghouse, General Motors, Cigarette brands such as Winston, Doral, Magna, and yes Camel. Robert had a hand in some of the now infamous Joe Camel illustrations. Robert worked in marathon sessions. It was not unusual for him to work 24-36 sometimes 72 straight hours. After 30 years of this....it got old. Now the role of a commercial illustrator had changed quite a bit and so had Robert. Robert retired from his life long occupation and decided to paint what he wanted and sell his work through the galleries. Robert was successful almost immediately. His technical skills and imagination have brought him many supporters from around the country. We hope he continues to entertain us with his work for many years to come.
