I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1977. I wasn't raised in the typical Utah family. My parents always encouraged every aspect of anything I wanted to try. I remember at an early age being exposed to tattoos by people that knew my family and came around to see my dad. My dad was always an big influence in my life. He always had a creative side to him in many aspects. The people that he introduce me to because of his profession (building cars and motorcycles) put me on my way to where I am to day. He taught me alot about pushing through to the end of something and finishing it. I think this helped me through my apprenticeship which was by far the hardest thing I have ever done. I have been working with multiple mediums of art throughout my life. I recall the first portrait that I tried to draw in the kitchen of my home when I was in elem. school and my mom pushing me and not letting me give up on it although I truely hated the encourgement I recieved I appreciate. She still has it today. I never imagined being where I am today. I started off going to college not for art but for engineering and after college and also working as an electrical engineer for 4 years I realized that this was not for me. Being lost and not knowing what I was going to do for the rest of my life, a friend and soon to become a mentor of mine Rich D. came to me and said let me teach you how to tattoo. He told me it wasnt going to be easy and that to keep in mind when it came to business and friendship there was a line and it would not be crossed. I give him much thanks for giving me the opportunity and giving me all of the advice and help to put me where I am now.
After a almost 2 yr apprenticeship. I have been tattooing professionally now for 6 yrs. I work at the studio I apprenticed at and have become part of a family that I consider as close as my immediate family. I am constantly trying to improve on my art and the at of tattooing. I firmly believe that in this industry you cannot become stagnant or you will be passed over. I enjoy doing all types of tattooing whether it be realistic, traditional, newschool japanese, or anything. I love to talk to the customer and let them be as much of the creative process in building the tattoo. Every tattoo is unique. Every customer should be involved in creating their individual tattoo. I enjoy this part of tattooing new people new and fresh ideas all the time. For the future there is no limit. |
