What started as a childhood passion for oils and pencils sent Regina Farlese into a quest to find her true artistic North. Regina’s journey began when her mother enrolled her into painting classes after she realized the innate talent her young daughter possessed. For three years she continued her studies. With her grandfather’s painting genes in her blood, this Farmingdale native knew she was destined to create…the question was, what?
As she grew older her passion intensified and she attended SUNY Farmingdale to pursue a degree in Fine Arts. Due to uncertainties about finding a “career” that would suit her creative talents, Regina felt it was best to change her major to Graphic Design.
For five years she persisted in this area, only to find she desperately missed being able to draw and paint. While working in “corporate America” she kept her hand in the arts by doing side jobs for an entertainment company where she would hand paint temporary tattoos.
Though Regina went under the gun at 18 to get her first tattoo, she had no inkling that she would want to make a living doing permanent works of art on people’s bodies. It was not until her heavily inked uncle suggested she try being a tattoo artist that Regina sought out an apprenticeship.
What she found at Tormented Souls was someone who would take her under their wing, Steven Gagliano. Regina has been tattooing for over two years now. Her compass now has a definitive direction. Custom pieces with bold color are her favorite, and this artist sports a number of vivid pieces on her small frame. Her inspiration comes from her favorite artists, painter Caravaggio and other tattooists such as few Tom Renshaw, Deano Cook, Mikle Devries, Grez, Mike Rubenthel, Bob Tyrell, Chris Garver, Snake Eyes and Guy Aitchison. Most importantly she credits her new career path to her grandfather who introduced her to the arts and her uncle Joe Falcone for helping to stabilize her compass.
