email this page to a friend Again, more magickal symbolism. Allison is a priestess of Brighid (pron. "breed") a Celtic Goddess of poetry, blacksmiths, healers, fire and inspiration. She was Xtianized into Saint Bridget and believed to be a foster mother to the Christ Child. She was also reputed to be the founder and Abbess of Kildare Abbey in Ireland. Famous for the healing waters of its wells. This piece, still in progress, blends so much Celtic / magickal symbolism, it could fill MANY pages to explain it all. The apple tree is sacred, apples bearing the sacred 5-pointed star at their core. Apples are also symbols of love as well as nourishment. The branch bears blossoms and ripe apples of all shapes, sizes and colours from gold to green to red and both! Knotwork interlaces on the branches which are adorned by silver ribbons and golden bells. 3 skulls hold the branch up, each skull bearing the rune of OTHALA: Meaning- Ancestral property. Inherited property or possessions, a house, a home. What is truly important to one. Group order, group prosperity. Land of birth, spiritual heritage, experience and fundamental values. Aid in spiritual and physical journeys. Source of safety, increase and abundance. The Ogham (pron. "Oh-um"), an ancient Celtic alphabet reputed to have been used by the Druids, marks the branch in a statement that the wearer of this tattoo belongs to Brighid.
